SILICON LABS released a new version of the software development kit, Gecko SDK, 3.2. The latest release of GSDK, the world’s most IoT-focused software development platform, enables developers to build IoT devices and applications with more advanced ecosystem functionalities, new wireless protocols, and robust security. GSDK 3.2 Highlights

The latest GSDK 3.2 release brings dozens of new features and enhancements for developers. Here are three highlights:

>Open Thread for HomeKit

The HomeKit smart home ecosystem is built on a well-coordinated ensemble of wireless protocols to support all use cases. Whereas Wi-Fi is the wireless backbone of a HomeKit-enabled smart home, Bluetooth® Low Energy provides point-to-point low-power communication, and Thread brings IP-based mesh connectivity. GSDK 3.2 now adds the Open Thread with dynamic multi-protocol (DMP) support in its HomeKit application development kit, allowing developers to build new exciting HomeKit accessory products based on Thread and Bluetooth Low Energy.

Wi-SUN mesh networking is revolutionizing the way smart cities are built. It combines an open ecosystem approach, and native public-key infrastructure (PKI) based security with reliable sub-GHz radio, self-healing, and excellent wireless performance. GSDK 3.2 now provides developers the Wi-SUN certified FAN 1.0 stack with certified PHYs – a future-proof IoT technology to address the rapidly growing smart city market profitably!
