Nippon Chemi-Con Developed Snap-in Type Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors RLB Series with High Ripple and RLA Series with Longer Life
Nippon Chemi-Con has developed Snap-in Type Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors RLB Series.
Nippon Chemi-Con considers home appliances as one of the priority markets and has been developing snap-in type capacitors, especially for air conditioners and washing machines. Last year, we started mass production of the RLA Series (guarantees 2,000 hours at 85℃) with high ripple current under commercial frequency (low frequency) for such devices.
There is a growing demand for a long-life guarantee in the market. Based on the development concept of the RLA Series, Nippon Chemi-Con has developed and commercialized the RLB Series with an improved endurance of 5,000 hours. As with the RLA Series, the new Series realizes a high ripple current at a commercial frequency (low frequency). It is now possible to cope with high ripple current without increasing capacitor capacitance or size in inverter applications requiring high ripple current for products such as white goods.
Nippon Chemi-Con has also upgraded the endurance of the existing RLA Series from the conventional 2,000 hours to 3,000 hours. There is no change in the specifications of the rated voltage or capacitance due to this upgrade.
The RLB Series is available in a voltage range of 180 to 250V, sizes φ30x35 L to φ35x55 L mm, and a capacitance range of 600 to 2200µF as the standard.
Nippon Chemi-Con achieved high ripple current by adopting a special structure and a proprietary aluminum electrode foil with low dielectric loss. Nippon Chemi-Con also adopted a low ESR specification for the electrolyte and separator.
[Samples and Mass Production]
The RLB Series is currently available as samples and mass production is scheduled to start in November 2015 at Chemi-Con Fukushima Corp. (a wholly owned subsidiary of Nippon Chemi-Con) and Chemi-Con (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.

The ESR of the HXA series is 20 to 120mΩ, which is about one tenth that of low ESR type aluminum electrolytic capacitors (125℃ products). The leakage current is also reduced to about one twentieth that of conventional conductive polymer aluminum solid capacitors.
