【应用】导热绝缘垫片MCS30替代陶瓷垫片在IGBT导热绝缘上的应用
变频器上应用的IGBT往往会产生大量的热,由于多数IGBT有绝缘要求,在使用导热产品时,往往需要考虑其绝缘特性,而在绝缘和导热性能都非常优秀的陶瓷垫片,成了比较合适的选择。虽然陶瓷垫片在导热和绝缘方面有着很大的优势,但其本身硬度非常大,且在受力时容易碎裂的缺陷,导致其并非是IGBT导热绝缘应用的首选。PARKER CHOMERICS公司推出的MCS30在IGBT导热绝缘方面是更加适合的选择。
根据公式,热阻θ=L/(λS)——(2)式中:λ是导热系数,单位w/mk;L是材料厚度或高度,单位m;S是有效传热截面积,单位m2;这里的热阻是综合热阻。
由于陶瓷垫片本身比较硬,在与器件及散热器接触时,其有效接触面积并不大,严重制约了热传导。通常应用下,会在陶瓷的接触面涂抹导热硅脂,而为了保证陶瓷垫片不那么容易碎裂,一般会使用厚一点的陶瓷垫片。三层导热介质影响着综合热阻,而导热硅脂由于比较容易变干(特别是高温情况下),增加了长期散热风险,在加工流程上面,也浪费了大量的人力成本,由于上述原因,陶瓷垫片方案有着自身缺陷。
Parker Chomerics公司推出的导热绝缘垫片MCS30具有超低硬度、高绝缘特性等特点,导热系数3w/mk。超低硬度只有25 Shore 00,更容易浸润贴合散热表面,增加接触面积。绝缘性能优越,达到11KVac/mm,能够满足绝大部分绝缘要求。可能对于部分工程来说,对其散热能力没有特别形象的感觉,距离如下:
对发热功率有50w的IGBT,封装为TO-247,工作环境温度40℃,使用0.5mm厚(压缩后)的MCS30,通常情况下,IGBT的结温为175℃,安全起见,取150℃,芯片到封装外壳的热阻取0.5℃/W,由于散热器限制,散热器温升20℃,此时IGBT会有过高的情况吗?
有公式计算,0.5mm厚度的MCS30热阻为0.83℃/w,散热器温度为60℃,封装外壳与散热器温差为0.83X50=41.5℃,封装外壳温度为101.5℃。由于IGBT内的热阻为0.5℃,芯片温度为126.5℃。由计算可知,对于发热功率为50w的IGBT,应用MCS30进行导热绝缘,在通常情况下完全没有问题。
在大多数情况下,都可以使用导热绝缘垫片替代陶瓷垫片方案,不仅降低了成本,还减少了装配工作量,提高了产品可靠性,是非常不错的选择,当然也有导热系数更高的产品供选择,Parker Chomerics为导热与EMI提供多种解决方案,敬请关注。
