Expanded polytetrafluoroethylene（Expanded PTFE） is made of polytetrafluoroethylene dispersion resin through a special processing technology. It has an ultra-microstructure of "knots and fibers". By controlling the spacing of the knots, it can induce ingrown tissue cells.

Therefore, the biggest difference between using expanded polytetrafluoroethylene as a filling material and previous materials is the way of tissue healing. That is, expanded polytetrafluoroethylene is the tissue-healing method of tissue growth, while the traditional silicone rubber is the tissue-healing method of fiber-wrapped tissue.

Therefore, the use of this material for soft tissue filling surgery including rhinoplasty has the advantages of lifelike appearance, no displacement or degeneration of the prosthesis, and fewer complications. At the same time, since the amount of cell tissue that grows into the micropores is very limited, it will not be very difficult if the material needs to be removed.
