The Application of Self Recovery Fuses in Automotive USB Systems
Nowadays, cars generally come with USB 3.0 ports. In addition to overcurrent and overvoltage protection, sensitive electronic devices using high-speed interfaces such as USB and HDMI also require electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection. Three different types of circuit protection devices can help avoid these potential destructive events.
PolySwitch polymer positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) devices can provide self-healing protection in USB applications. Placing the PolySwitch PPTC device on the VBUS port of the USB power supply can limit the current during short circuit events, help prevent damage caused by sudden short circuits, and help achieve UL60950 compliance.
The design of USB 3.0 uses circuit protection devices to help prevent overcurrent (PTTC, left) and overvoltage (PolyZen, right) damage at the power port, as well as ESD (SESD device) events at the data port
For overvoltage protection in USB 3.0 applications, PolyZen devices use a hybrid approach that integrates a Zener diode and a PPTC device connected in a thermally coupled manner. PolyZen devices can be used in USB ports to help prevent damage to components due to high voltage if the upstream voltage regulator malfunctions when plugged into the USB port.

Explanation of Parameters in the PPTC Specification for Self Healing Fuses
This is very simple. As long as you know the meaning represented by the parameters in the specification book, you can clearly and quickly view the PTC specification book for self recovery fuses.
Self Recovery Performance and Working Process of Self Recovery Fuses
Traditional fuses are installed in circuits. When an overcurrent occurs due to a fault or abnormality in the circuit, the fuse itself melts to cut off the current and protect the circuit. However, due to the fact that traditional fuses can only protect once and need to be replaced if burned out, some products still cannot resume operation after troubleshooting or abnormal overcurrent disappears. As a new type of overcurrent protection device, the self-recovery fuse has the function of automatic recovery, which can meet the performance requirements of similar applications.
Principle and Characteristics of Self Recovering Fuses
As a new type of overcurrent protection component, self recovering fuses have the advantages of self recovery, fast response speed, and small size, and have broad application prospects in electronic devices and circuits.
What is A Self Recovery Fuse
Self recovery fuse is an overcurrent electronic protection component that uses a polymer organic polymer under high pressure, high temperature, and sulfurization reaction conditions. After mixing with conductive particle materials, it is processed through a special process. Habitually applying PPTC (Polymer Positive Temperature).
The Application of Self Recovery Fuses in RS485 Interface
As is well known, the interface of intelligent instruments was originally RS232, which can achieve point-to-point communication, but this method cannot achieve networking function. The subsequent RS485 resolved this issue. So the current RS485 interface is quite popular among intelligent instruments. Today, the editor will explain the application of self recovery fuses in the RS485 interface.
Self Healing Fuses, a New Type of Overcurrent Protection Component
Self recovery fuse is a new type of overcurrent protection component with unique performance and wide application prospects.
The Operating Principle of Self Recovering Fuse PPTC in USB Protection
Self healing fuse (PPTC) is a very important electronic component widely used in the protection of USB interfaces. It has the characteristics of automatic protection and automatic recovery. When the current exceeds the set value, the circuit will be immediately cut off, and when the current returns to the normal range, the path will be automatically restored.
The Selection of Miniature Fuses
Miniature fuses are primarily used in digital cameras, laptops, mobile phones, and other electronic products. From traditional glass tube fuses to miniature fuses, the selection focus varies slightly due to differences in product technology. The selection of miniature fuses involves the following elements.
Description of Metal Materials for Self Recovering Fuses
PPTC self-healing fuses play a role in limiting current and achieving circuit protection. There are various specifications and models of self-healing fuses. This article introduces the metal materials used for Self Recovering Fuses.
Application of Overcurrent Protection for Self Recovery Fuses
The overcurrent protection application of self recovery fuses - There are two optional types of self recovery fuse materials: radial lead packaging and surface mount. The function of self restoring fuses is suitable for various design applications.
The Protection Application of Self Recovery Fuses in Sweepers
With the rapid development of modern technology, a large number of products can only be integrated into our daily lives, and the broom is one of them. As a smart home product, floor sweepers are not uncommon in first tier cities in China. The working principle of a floor sweeper is not too difficult to understand, mainly relying on the drive of internal small motors to provide power. Due to unstable voltage or jamming during operation, the motor may encounter problems such as rotor blockage, overload, or even burning out.
What Is The Difference between Resettable Fuses and Traditional Fuses?
PPTC and fuses both do the same job: protecting electronic circuits from overcurrent related issues. The difference is that the fuse must be replaced after tripping, while PPTC can reset itself. PPTC can handle sudden overcurrent events without the need for replacement.
The Application of Self Recovery Fuses in the Horn System
The protection requirements for the horn system are relatively strict. Ordinary fuses only provide one-time protection in the horn, increasing the repair rate of the product; In addition, additional fuse boxes and wires increase the manufacturer‘s costs.
Selection Guide of Self Recovery Fuse
Self recovery fuses are widely used for overcurrent protection of power lines, communication lines, and I/O ports in electronic products such as communication, security, industrial, automotive, and consumer products. So, in actual circuit protection, how should we choose the appropriate model of self recovery fuse to achieve the best protection effect?
Experience in Selecting Self Recovering Fuses
Do you have any good experience to share in selecting self recovering fuses? Self recovery fuse is an overcurrent electronic protection component, which is made of high molecular weight organic polymers under high voltage, high temperature, and sulfurization reaction conditions, mixed with conductive particle materials, and processed through special processes.
