压敏电阻是一种压敏电阻器(VDR)。压敏电阻的电阻是可变的并且取决于所施加的电压。该词由“可变电阻器”的部分组成。当电压增加时,它们的电阻减小。如果电压增加过多,它们的电阻会急剧下降。这种行为使它们适合在电压浪涌期间保护电路。电涌的原因可能包括雷击和静电放电。常见的VDR类型是金属氧化物压敏电阻或MOV。

压敏电阻是非线性二元半导体,其电阻随着电压的增加而下降。压敏电阻器通常用作敏感电路的浪涌抑制器。

特征
压敏电阻器具有非线性变化的电阻,取决于所施加的电压。在标称负载条件下,阻抗很高,但当超过电压阈值(击穿电压)时,阻抗会急剧下降到较低值。它们通常用于保护电路免受过高瞬态电压的影响。当电路遭受高压瞬变时,压敏电阻开始导通并将瞬变电压钳位到安全水平。传入浪涌的能量部分传导,部分吸收,从而保护电路。
常见的类型是MOV(金属氧化物变阻器)。它们由氧化锌(ZnO)颗粒的烧结基质构成。晶界提供PN结半导体特性,类似于二极管结。随机定向晶粒的矩阵可以与串联和并联的二极管的大型网络进行比较。当施加低电压时,只有非常小的电流流动,这是由通过结的反向泄漏引起的。然而,当施加超过击穿电压的高电压时,结会经历雪崩击穿并且会流过大电流。这种行为导致非线性电流-电压特性。

重要的选择参数包括钳位电压、峰值电流、脉冲能量、额定交流/直流电压和待机电流。当用于通信线路时,杂散电容也是一个重要参数。高电容可以充当高频信号的滤波器或引起串扰,从而限制通信线路的可用带宽。
压敏电阻可用于在1-1000微秒量级的高瞬态电压浪涌情况下提供短期保护。然而,它们不适合处理持续的浪涌。如果瞬态脉冲能量(以焦耳(J)为单位)明显超过额定值,它们可能会熔化、燃烧或爆炸。
MOV在反复遭受浪涌时会降解。每次浪涌后,MOV钳位电压都会稍微降低;多少取决于MOV相对于脉冲的焦耳额定值。随着钳位电压越来越低,可能的故障模式是部分或完全短路,其中钳位电压低于受保护线电压。这种情况可能会导致火灾。为了防止火灾,它们通常与热熔断器串联,在过热时断开MOV。为了限制退化,建议使用受保护电路允许的尽可能高的钳位电压,以限制浪涌的暴露量。
应用领域
压敏电阻的非线性特性使其非常适合用作浪涌保护器装置。高压瞬变源可能包括雷击、静电放电(ESD)或电机或变压器的感应放电。因此,压敏电阻常用于浪涌保护器插排中。具有低电容的特殊类型可保护通信线路。这些VDR可用于多种应用,包括:
