Voltage regulator is a component that can provide a stable output voltage when the power supply voltage or load current changes. Common Voltage Regulators are mainly divided into two types: Linear Regulators and switching regulators. Among them, switching regulators generate the specified output voltage by repeatedly switching the output stage's switch state and combining it with other energy storage components. On the other hand, linear regulators dynamically adjust the voltage difference between the input and output by obtaining the feedback of the output voltage and utilizing a control circuit composed of an error amplifier to achieve dynamic voltage regulation. Its main characteristic is that the input voltage Vin is greater than the output voltage Vout. With the widespread application of Low-Dropout Regulators in microcontrollers in recent years, to meet market demand, XBLW company has introduced its proprietary brand XBLW AMS1117.
Key features of the classic linear regulator XBLW AMS1117
Output current capability up to 1A.
Output voltage accuracy of ±1.5%.
Built-in thermal protection and current limiting protection functions.
Fixed output voltages of 1.2V, 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 2.85V, 3.3V, and 5V. (refer to figure 1).
Adjustable output voltage adj version, requiring only two external resistors to adjust the voltage between 1.25V and 13.8V. (refer to figure 2).
XBLW AMS1117 is available in three package versions.

Applications of XBLW AMS1117:
In practical use, AMS1117 can be employed in several ways:
1. Power supply filtering: AMS1117 can be used in conjunction with capacitors to form a power supply filter, enhancing the overall circuit's anti-interference capability. When selecting capacitor capacitance, it should be based on the load current and the desired level of noise suppression.
2. Power supply protection: AMS1117 has built-in overload protection and overheat protection functions, which can provide limited protection for the circuit. If the load current is too high or the ambient temperature is too high, AMS1117 will immediately interrupt the output to protect the load and itself.
3. Voltage regulation: AMS1117 can stabilize the input voltage and provide a stable output voltage. In practical applications, different output voltages can be selected according to requirements. For example, by adjusting the output voltage of AMS1117, the input 12V voltage can be stabilized to 5V voltage, which can be used to power microcontrollers, sensors, and other devices.
4. Circuit adaptation: AMS1117 can adjust the voltage of different circuits to a suitable voltage. For example, the input 9V voltage can be adjusted to 3.3V voltage by AMS1117, which can be used to power SD cards, signal generators, and other devices. It is also used in computer motherboards, graphics cards, LCD monitors, LCD TVS, ADSL, and other equipment.
