The World‘s First Dual-Core Real-Time Control MCU Featuring Cortex-M52 Processor Unveiled at Electronica China 2024
From July 8 to 10, Geehy showcased the groundbreaking G32R5 series, the world's first Dual-Core Real-Time Control MCU based on the Arm® Cortex®-M52 processor with Helium technology, at Electronica China 2024.
Next-Generation Advanced Core and Enhanced DSP and AI Real-Time Master Control Chip
The Arm® Cortex®-M52 processor, built on the Arm® v8.1-M architecture, elevates the efficiency of the Cortex-M series (including Cortex®-M55 and Cortex®-M85) to a new level and marks a significant milestone in integrating machine learning (ML) functionality into microcontrollers.
With Arm Helium™ technology and the M-Profile Vector Extension (MVE) based on the Arm v8.1-M architecture, the Cortex-M52 achieves superior DSP and ML functionalities. Compared to previous generations of the Cortex-M series, the Cortex-M52's ML performance is up to 5.6 times higher, and its DSP performance is up to 2.7 times greater. Additionally, the Cortex-M52 supports a custom data path extension (CDE) interface, which enables integration with Geehy's high-performance, low-latency ZiDian™ math computation acceleration unit. This unit significantly reduces mathematical computing time and CPU access latency by supporting multiple mathematical computing accelerations at the instruction set level. Therefore, the Cortex-M52 meets the stringent requirements of new-generation high-efficiency digital power and industrial control applications for real-time performance and AI.
Based on a 40nm advanced process, the G32R5 real-time control MCU series features an embedded Cortex-M52 core, a ZiDian™ math computation acceleration unit, and high-performance control peripherals. It operates in environments ranging from -40℃ to 125℃. With its innovative architecture, the G32R5 dramatically improves real-time computing power. When the dual-core runs at a 250MHz main frequency, its real-time computing power is comparable to that of Cortex-M7 core products with an 800MHz frequency, meeting the needs of next-generation server power supplies, DC charging station power modules, photovoltaic inverters, on-board chargers, and high-performance motion control, and other applications.
Multiple Digital Power and Industrial Control Solutions Demonstrate Application Potential
The successful development of real-time control MCUs is attributed to an in-depth understanding of target applications and system characteristic requirements. In addition to showcasing the G32R5 series MCUs, Geehy presented four digital power and industrial control applications based on this chip at the fair. These solutions include a 48V/50A bidirectional power supply, an 800W one-to-two mini inverter, a 400W EtherCAT bus high-voltage servo controller, and a low-voltage sensorless dual-motor solution. Through practical application cases in multiple subfields, the live demonstration highlighted the exceptional performance and application ecosystem of Geehy's first real-time control MCU based on Cortex-M52.
The G32R5 series real-time control MCUs are expected to be officially launched by the end of the year.
