Delve into the Factors Affect the Positioning Distance and Accuracy of UWB Module
The positioning distance and accuracy of UWB (Ultra Wideband) modules are affected by various factors.
Generally speaking, the indoor positioning distance of UWB module can reach tens to hundreds of meters. In an ideal environment, its positioning accuracy can reach centimeter level, usually achieving high-precision positioning within 10 centimeters.
However, the actual positioning distance and accuracy may be affected by the following factors:
1. Environmental obstacles such as walls and metal objects can cause signal attenuation and reflection, affecting positioning accuracy and distance.
2. Signal interference: Interference from other wireless devices may reduce positioning performance.
3. Base station layout: The number, distribution, and spacing of base stations can affect the coverage and accuracy of positioning.
4. The relative position between tags and base stations: Different angles and positional relationships may result in differences in positioning performance.
For example, in an open and low interference warehouse environment, using appropriately laid UWB base stations may achieve a positioning distance of about 50 meters and an accuracy of about 5 centimeters; But in a complex factory environment filled with metal shelves and numerous electronic devices, the positioning distance may be shortened to about 30 meters, and the accuracy may also drop to about 10 centimeters.
What protocols does the UWB module support?
UWB modules typically support multiple protocols, including IEEE802.15.4-2020, IEEE802.15.4z, and FiRa Alliance specifications.
For example, the SKU620 launched by Micro Energy Information is a UWB module that can perform high-precision long-distance ranging, supporting a range of over 500 meters within the visible range. The module is developed based on the DecawaveDW1000 ultra wideband chip and supports the IEEE802.15.4-2011 UWB protocol.
These protocols ensure the wide compatibility and seamless communication between UWB modules, enabling them to achieve high-precision, secure positioning and ranging, high-speed data transmission, and other functions in various application scenarios. Different UWB modules may have some differences in the specific supported protocols, which need to be selected according to specific requirements in practical applications.
