Aiming to support solving issues in the logistics industry by leveraging MAXELL's unique image optics technology.

Maxell, Ltd. (President and Representative Director: Keiji Nakamura / hereinafter “Maxell”) developed a Glass Projection Display for Logistics Trucks (hereinafter “BM-Display for Logistics Trucks”) to resolve safety issues in the logistics industry by applying the Bright Mirror Display (hereinafter “BM-Display”) developed in August 2023, and conducted a demonstration experiment to quantitatively evaluate safety in collaboration with NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS, INC. (President, CEO and Representative Director: Satoshi Horikiri / hereinafter “NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS”).

Maxell has been mass-producing AR-HUD*1 for passenger cars since April 2021. Based on the high-efficiency backlight technology cultivated in AR-HUD, BM-Display for Logistics Trucks realized the miniaturization (about 0.9L) and high brightness (10,000 cd/m2 or more), and is able to project on the front windshield of the vehicles that used to be difficult to install such as trucks, bus, train that windshields are almost perpendicular to the ground.

From May 2024, Maxell and NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS jointly installed a BM-Display for Logistics Trucks on logistics trucks to quantitatively assess the amount of eye movement, travel time, and scope of viewpoints during driving. The evaluation results showed that the installation of BM-Display reduced the amount of viewpoint movement (approximately 37% reduction), shortened the viewpoint movement time (approximately 39% reduction), and the display position of BM-Display was in the range of the viewpoint movement during operation including the curve time, therefore, the installation of BM-Display reduced the load during driving. Based on the results of this quantitative evaluation, 1 we will support the operation of inexperienced drivers such as new drivers as well as elderly drivers, and aim to quickly commercialize products with the aim of resolving issues in the logistics industry, such as securing employment, improving safety, and improving work efficiency. We will also deploy these vehicles to buses, trains, and heavy machineries, in an effort to improve the safety of all commercial vehicles.
