随着消费者和商业应用对快速通信需求的不断增长,射频器件的工作频率要求也变得越来越高,这给射频器件的设计师们带来了诸多挑战——一方面需要缩小滤波器的尺寸,以适配更小的设备尺寸和更短的波长;另一方面还需要确保元件的高性能。虽然表面贴装技术(SMT),特别是微带安装,可满足以上要求,但需要注意的是,不是每个SMT微带滤波器都是一成不变的——您可以与滤波器供应商就基板的类型、电镀技术和拓扑结构等进行商讨以尽可能地缩小元件尺寸、提高元件性能。过去的几十年来,楼氏电容(KPD)对此给出的建议是:利用薄膜技术进行产品开发。
简言之,薄膜是一种用于制造电子元件的材料层,其厚度一般从几纳米到几微米不等。由于用薄膜构建的电路是在陶瓷基底上通过光刻技术创建的分布式元件结构,因此与其他滤波器开发技术(如在PCB上印刷)相比,具有以下优势:

此外,由于陶瓷材料自身的特性能有效地减缓波的速度,因此我们可以缩小波长,从而使滤波器的物理尺寸小于信号在自由空间的波长尺寸。这使薄膜成为对精度和准确性有极高要求的高频射频器件的绝佳选择。然而,这一方法也面临一些挑战,我们必须仔细考虑寻求解决方案。对此,我们将展开详细探讨。
楼氏电容(KPD)的专家助您克服薄膜挑战
为了缩小电路尺寸并降低成本,大多数现代系统都不是主动冷却的。这意味着电路中的所有元件需要在很宽的温度范围内良好运行,这使得温度稳定性成为挑选适用薄膜材料时的关键考虑因素。简言之,薄膜滤波器中使用的陶瓷必须是专门设计的,以尽量减少由于温度变化造成的性能差异。在使用氧化铝等现成材料时,保证温度稳定性是一个问题;但若您与楼氏电容(KPD)合作,这将不再是问题——因为我们从原材料阶段即进行垂直整合,我们所有的基板陶瓷设计都是温度稳定型的。
此外,我们花费大量时间就基于各类基板的微带滤波器的温度稳定性进行了测试。图1和图2是两个18GHz带通滤波器设计的示例比较——其中一个批次是基于我们的CF基板,另一个则是在氧化铝板上完成的。我们测量了从-55℃到+125℃温度范围内的滤波器反应。

如上图所示,尽管温度变化范围很宽,但CF元件的性能变化并不大。这是因为我们的定制陶瓷在设计时考虑到了温度的稳定性——如果您需要在一定的工作温度范围内具有可靠的、可预测的性能的元件,这一点就非常重要。
如今使用薄膜的另一个挑战是能实现多大的尺寸缩小。同样,基于楼氏电容(KPD)的定制陶瓷材料,我们可以设计出比基于氧化铝的元件小得多的元件。

很明显,使用薄膜设计的滤波器具备几项关键优势,特别是对于在高频下工作的射频元件。但要充分利用这些优势,我们需要注意所选基板的材料特性。对于楼氏电容(KPD)来说,薄膜开发已经不是什么新鲜事了,我们利用图4所示的薄膜微带技术可提供从1GHz到42GHz(甚至更高)的各种带通、低通和高通滤波器。
