【经验】LDO线性稳压器的并联之使用二极管并联LDO
本文是ROHM“LDO线性稳压器的并联”系列文章中的一篇,讲述如何使用二极管并联LDO。
首先来看通过二极管并联LDO的电路图。采用二极管并联LDO连接方法,由于输出路径中有二极管,因此输出电压仅下降二极管正向电压(以下简称“VF”)的量。所以,要想得到预期的输出电压,需要采取诸如将二极管VF添加到LDO的输出电压设置值中等措施。另外,每个二极管的VF会有个体波动,而且还会因负载电流和温度而异,因此,无法期待精确的输出电压精度。
通过二极管连接两个LDO输出时的电路
这个电路也是由输出电压高的LDO供给电流,但由于流过的电流因二极管的VF而异,因此可以在一定程度上吸收两个LDO之间的电压差。输出电压的平衡关系可以通过以下公式来表示:
VOUT1-VF1(IOUT1)=VOUT2-VF2(IOUT2)
VOUT1:LDO1的输出电压
VOUT2:LDO2的输出电压
VVF1(IOUT1):IOUT1的D1的VF
VF2(IOUT2):IOUT2的D2的VF
例如,从下图中可以看出使用3.3V、1A输出的LDO,且LDO1的输出电压比LDO2高1%时,各LDO供给负载的输出电流是如何分配的。在负载电流为1A的节点,即使LDO的输出电压差仅为1%,但电流分配却有很大差异:LDO1为0.64A,LDO2为0.36A。
输出电压差为1%时的输出电流分配
接下来,下图给出了两个LDO间的输出电压差对输出电流的影响。
下图表示LDO1比LDO2的输出电压高时各LDO的输出电流之比。当两个LDO的输出电压完全相同时,输出电流的比率为50%(平均分配输出电流),但随着输出电压差的增加,电流比率的差也会随之增加。例如假设LDO1的输出电压波动+1%、LDO2的输出电压波动-1%,则LDO1的电流输出为77%、LDO2的电流输出为23%,电流分配很不平衡。
输出电压差对输出电流比率的影响
从下图可以看出当使用最大推荐输出电流值为1A的LDO时,LDO间的输出电压差对LDO并联电路的输出电流的影响。
如果LDO之间完全没有电压差,则两个LDO的输出电流相等,因此可以输出2A(1A+1A)的电流。但随着LDO输出电压差的增加,能够输出的电流值越来越小。在LDO1的输出电压波动+1%、LDO2的输出电压波动-1%的条件下,使用最大推荐输出电流值为1A的LDO时,当两个LDO中的一个达到1A时该LDO将达到最大输出状态,因此相对于2A的输出电流能力,最多只能输出1.37A的电流。
输出电压差对最大输出电流的影响
最后请看负载调节图表。
负载调节
与LDO输出相比,输出电压下降了二极管VF的量,并且二极管VF随负载电流的增加而增加,因此输出电压进一步降低。除了各LDO本来就有的负载调节器之外,二极管VF的影响也很大,而且输出电压的变化也很大,因此,如前所述,负载调节器并不理想。
关键要点:
・在使用二极管进行LDO并联的方法中,由于输出路径中有二极管,因此输出电压会下降二极管VF的量,因此需要采取在LDO的输出电压设置中添加VF部分等相应的对策。
・每个二极管的VF存在个体差异,而且还会因负载电流和温度而异,因此,无法期待精确的输出电压精度(负载调节器)。
・尽管使用二极管可以缓和输出电压差的问题,但无论如何,由于两个LDO的输出电压存在压差,各LDO的输出电流分配还是具有很大波动。
