What Are the Differences between American, Japanese And European Automotive Connector Standards?
Nowadays, a large part of automotive electronic devices is the compatible design for different manufacturers. No matter how compatible it is internally, it is necessary to determine the requirements of the connection interface, including installation position, structure, and electrical appliances. One of the important problems is the selection of a connector. The vehicle connector and harness are the carriers of controlling vehicle's electrical signals. It organically connects the central control components of the vehicle with the vehicle control unit, electrical and electronic execution unit, and electrical equipment to form a complete vehicle electrical control system.

Because international standards are the result of the game, many things are a basic direction determined by manufacturers, but they can not meet the development of connectors in terms of test parameters, test items, and test methods. Therefore, they are basically divided into three regional standards, representing some requirements of the automobile industry in the United States, Europe, and Japan.
1. Connector performance specification uscar-2 formulated by the American Society of automotive engineering can represent the development of connectors in test parameters and test items and is more operable in test methods. The general gmw3191 and Fiat's 7-z8260 standards are based on uscar-2 language.
2. According to the overall needs of Japanese automobile manufacturers, the Japan Automobile Industry Association has formulated a set of basic connection standards jasod605-1996 for the automotive electronic connector industry.
3. Test items, test conditions, and test requirements for automotive electrical components below lv1243.5t in European standards. The supply specification was jointly written by the representatives of automobile manufacturers Audi, BMW, Daimler, Porsche, and Volkswagen. It is also a common standard representing the German automobile industry.
According to the actual situation, the compatibility of the connector, especially considering the external interface of the whole vehicle, should still consider the problems of manufacturer, especially the other end of the whole vehicle harness should be confirmed by the automobile manufacturer.
