Common Communication Method of Serial Port Server
This article introduces the two RS485 to Ethernet methods and the three modes of communication can be applied to various field situations.
RS485 to Ethernet Method 1: By converting the RS232/485/422 serial port into a TCP/IP network interface, RS485 to Ethernet provides the function of the serial port to the network, realizing the two-way transparent data transmission between the RS232/485/422 serial port and the TCP/IP network interface. Thus, the serial device has the direct TCP/IP network interface function and is connected with the network for data communication, greatly expanding the communication distance of the serial device.
RS485 to Ethernet Method 2: Flexible configuration of two working modes:
1. the client mode, that is, the Serial Port Server where the client initiates the TCP connection with other network devices, is suitable for the serial port device to actively connect to the master device.
2. server side working mode, serial server waiting for other network devices to initiate TCP connection, suitable for passive acceptance or transmission of data, fully controlled by other devices of the serial device.
Three modes of communication can be applied to various field situations:
1. Point-to-point serial communication mode: serial servers are used in pairs, and a TCP connection between client and server is started/established, so that the two serial devices can transmit data transparently and directly through TCP/IP network.
2. virtual serial communication mode: the establishment of one or more virtual serial ports on the computer, connected to the serial program, through the network to manage one or more serial servers, so that the connected serial devices can exchange data with the computer.
3. in the WINSOCKET communication mode: the network program on the computer or directly based on the WINSOCKET communication equipment directly connected to the serial port server through TCP, so that it can be transparent and bidirectional and the corresponding serial port equipment for data transmission.
