What is An OTP Chip?
An OTP chip is a type of memory for an MCU, meaning it's programmable once: a program can't be changed after it's been burned into the IC. Therefore, an OTP voice chip refers to a voice IC that can be recorded at one time.This article POROSVOC will introduce what is an OTP chip?
From the definition of OTP chip, that is to say, the voice chip that can be recorded at one time also knows that there is no minimum limit for OTP. After the voice is provided by the customer, the voice IC ring core can be burned to the OTP chip by the voice processing and post-programming burning tools. This is the most commonly used OTP burning method, usually only 1 or 5-10 can be burned at a time, the decision of the burning tool is different.
The OTP chip bare tape recording is an OTP voice chip (such as AC9010). The sound and program processed in the IC production process will be directly produced to the IC and the mask chip process is similar, but the delivery time for OTP customers usually takes 10 days, and the mask takes about 30 days. Because OTP is originally an improved mask chip.
According to the different types of memory, MCU can be divided into MASK (mask) ROM, OTP (one-time programmable) ROM, flash ROM and so on. The MCU of MASK ROM is low in price, but it is suitable for applications with factory curing and fixed program. The MCU program of the Flash ROM can be reused and has high flexibility, but it is expensive and suitable for price-insensitive applications or development purposes. OTP ROM's MCU price is between the first two, with one-time programming function, it is very suitable for applications that require flexibility and low cost, especially electronic products that require continuous updating of functions and rapid production.
What are the types of OTP chips?
OTP is technically divided into three forms: time synchronization, event synchronization and challenge/response.
(1) Time synchronization
The principle is to verify the time comparison of the server based on the dynamic token and the dynamic password. Tokens based on time synchronization typically generate a new password every 60 seconds, the server must be able to keep the correct clock very accurately, and there are strict requirements on how often tokens are modified. The terminal corresponding to this technology is a hardware token.
(2) Event synchronization
The principle of event synchronization based tokens is that a consistent password is computed in a hashing algorithm using a specific sequence of events and the same seed value as input.
(3) Challenge/Response
Enter the challenge code issued by the server in the commonly used online business, website/response, enter the challenge code in the dynamic token, generate a 6/8-digit random number through the built-in algorithm, and the password is valid for one time. This technology is currently the most widely used. Temporary cards, SMS passwords, and dynamic tokens also have challenge/response formats. Mainstream dynamic commands come in two forms: time synchronization and challenge/response.
The OTP generates the terminal mainstream SMS password, and the dynamic token classifies the hardware token and the mobile token at the terminal. The mobile token is the client software installed on the mobile phone.
