Frequency Band Differences Between LTE Cat 1 and LTE Cat 4

LTE Cat 1 Modem and LTE Cat 4 Modem are two different data transmission units based on LTE (Long-Term Evolution) network. The differences between them are mainly reflected in the following aspects:


Data Rate: The LTE Cat 1 Modem supports a maximum data rate of 10 Mbps (downlink) and 5 Mbps (uplink), while the LTE Cat 4 Modem supports a maximum data rate of 150 Mbps (downlink) and 50 Mbps (uplink). Therefore, the LTE Cat 4 Modem has a higher speed and can achieve faster data transmission.


Network adaptation: LTE Cat 1 Modem is applicable to Category 1 of the LTE network, while LTE Cat 4 Modem is applicable to Category 4 of the LTE network. Category 1 networks are suitable for low-power, low-rate Internet of Things applications, while Category 4 networks are suitable for more intelligent devices and applications, with higher speed and performance.


Supported bands: LTE Cat 1 Modem and LTE Cat 4 Modem may have different band support depending on the device and vendor. Generally speaking, LTE Cat 4 Modem supports a wider range of frequency bands and can be used in more operators and regions.


Power consumption and cost: The LTE Cat 1 Modem is lower in power consumption and cost than the LTE Cat 4 Modem because it supports lower speed and power requirements. This makes LTE Cat 1 Modem suitable for some application scenarios that do not require high speed, but are sensitive to power consumption and cost.


There are differences between the LTE Cat 1 Modem and the LTE Cat 4 Modem in terms of data transmission rate, network adaptation, band support, power consumption, and cost. The selection of the appropriate Modem depends on the requirements of the specific application, including data transmission rate, network coverage requirements, and budget constraints.


Difference between LTE cat 1 and LTE cat 4 modem

LTE Cat 1 Modem

CAN-Modem is used in CAN networks with baud rates up to 1Mbps, and all channels can operate at different baud rates. The CAN-Modem complies with CAN specifications 2.0 A and 2.0 B and can be used with various high-level CAN protocols (CANOpen, SDS, J1939, DeviceNet, or other customized protocols).


The CAN-Modem can be configured by connecting to a PC through an asynchronous serial communication interface; The configuration software based on the Windows system is provided, which is easy to use and supports the configuration to take effect immediately. Lte Cat 4 Modem

4G Modem is a wireless data terminal of the Internet of Things, which has the function of wireless long-distance data transmission. High-performance industrial 16/32-bit communication processor and industrial wireless module are adopted, the embedded real-time operating system is used as a software support platform, and RS232 and RS485 (or RS422) interfaces are provided, which can be directly connected to serial devices to achieve transparent data transmission.
