PLC splitter is a PLC planar waveguide type optical splitter. PLC splitter is one of the most important passive components in optical fiber links.
Ⅰ. How is the PLC splitter made?
A PLC splitter is a quartz substrate-based planar waveguide optical power distribution device used to distribute optical signals from a central office (CO) to multiple end-user locations.
It evenly divides single/dual optical input into multiple optical outputs, and evenly distribute optical signals to users. The branch channels usually have 2, 4, and 8 channels and up to 64 channels and above, which is usually expressed as 1 ×N or 2×N.
Ⅱ. The characteristics of ABS box PLC splitter
ABS box is one of the packaging methods of PLC splitter. In addition to ABS box type, PLC splitter is also classified as rack type, bare fiber type, tray type, and so on. ABS box PLC splitter is the most commonly used in the PON network and has the following characteristics:
1. Compact structure and flexible installation
The ABS box optical splitter has good protection on the internal optical components and cables and is simple in design and reliable in installation. In addition to providing reliable protection, the ABS box PLC splitter can also be installed in various cabling cabinets.
2. Uniform light splitting and good stability
The loss is not sensitive to the wavelength of the transmitted light. A single device has multiple channels, which can be more than 32 channels.
